MPL was founded in The Gambia by Zainab Ayeni, offering a timeless range of beautifully hand-crafted products from skilled artisans across Africa. Partnering directly with the source, MPL provides a platform making these unique wares accessible worldwide.
Ensuring singular quality of the highest standard, MPL is committed to working closely with artists: expanding their creative horizons whilst still preserving the traditional craftsmanship and hand making techniques passed down between generations. The focus is on vintage textiles from Mali, intricately hand-carved furniture and kitchenware from The Gambia, and expertly hand-woven baskets from Senegal. We consult on design and production with craftspeople in order to create bespoke items and uphold stringent quality standards, while retaining the authenticity of African production.
With years of experience honing her tastes in the international fashion and textile industries, working with brands such as Ralph Lauren and Diesel, Zainab is able to combine her keen eye for detail with her passion for enhancing the growth and development of these skilled men and women in Africa.
A portion of the proceeds will go to opening a free arts and crafts training center in The Gambia, in addition to providing educational support for artisan families we work with.
