Brown Pattern Mud Cloth Throw

In LOOVE with this throw blanket!

With traditional motifs painted on each strip of cloth, this eye catching throw is such a great item to add some rich earthy tones to any room OR on a white sandy beach as a blanket! Edges are slightly frayed adding a warm feel for your living pleasure!

This textile is hand woven and hand dyed by artisans in Mali, West Africa. Mud Cloth or Bogolan is one of the most distinctive textiles in West Africa. Made from 100% organic cotton, the process of making this beautiful fabric is an art form which dates back generations.

The textile is traditionally made using narrow strips of cotton, hand spun on looms which are then stitched together to make a whole cloth. Cloths are first hand dyed in baths of boiled mashed leaves from the baobab tree and in some cases, tree bark is also added. After drying, a special mud, fermented for up to a year is used to design the intricate motifs on the fabric.

The process and technique is entirely organic and environmentally friendly. I hope you will love it as much as I do!

Since all items are entirely created beautifully by hand, please note that imperfections such as very slight pattern variations, pulls at seams where panels are stitched together are to be expected when I receive the production from my artisan partner.

Your satisfaction when receiving MPL product is of utmost importance to me, therefore, I have done the quality checks to ensure longevity of every product although it is widely accepted that these unique attributes add to the charm of our textiles being handmade and are not in any way defects.
